Authentic and homey cuisine at Eco Wine

Located in the centre of gastronomic heaven in Kuchai Lama, Eco Wine started operating 5 years ago as liquor warehouse. Recently, they’ve introduced their own kitchen too serving the needs of lunch crowd, dinner and snacks suitable for wine or beer pairing.

My first expression when I see the liquor collection “wow! They have such impressive collection!” Most of the liquor I believe you name it, they have it. Most importantly, the pricing is reasonable and most of them are imported.

Beautiful and creative backdrop with empty bottles.

Feature wall with labels of craft beers which is one of their specialties.

Collection of craft beers and wine.

Few of the imported craft beers they have. Now they have Tiny Rebel promotion where 4 craft beers only cost RM99! For someone who dislikes rough beers, the craft beers here have smooth texture, little to no bitter taste (depending on the variety you choose) and the taste is consistent even when it’s not cold anymore.

They also have skewers and snacks for wine or beer pairing.

Fiery roasted pork.

The roasted pork has minimal fats, stir fried in soy sauce and chilli, the dish is also suitable for everyone as it’s not too spicy actually!

Sweet and sour chicken rice.

Nothing symbolises home cooked food more than sweet and sour chicken to be honest. I believe that every household would have this at home before. However, as common as it is to be seen at every restaurant, the right taste is hard to achieve. The sourness must not overpower the sweetness and the meat should be just tender and not overcooked. This dish right here pleasures my taste buds as its right amount of sourness increases my appetite!

Signature pork curry rice.

This curry dish is nonetheless the star of all the dishes, its generous amount of Santan making the curry a thick texture and not watery and diluted. Huge and boneless diced pork accompanied by white rice and hard boiled egg. This is surely a satisfying meal.

Gong po chicken rice.

Another staple Chinese cuisine. The gong po chicken here has the right balance of saltiness and spiciness. The dried chillis added in the dish definitely added more dimension to the taste but yet, the spiciness is tolerable and not too overpowering.

Spring onion chicken rice.

This is my favourite of them all! I’ve been trying a lot of spring onion chicken dishes all over Klang Valley and this is by far the best I’ve tasted. As the name suggests, of course the dish must have a pleasant taste of stir fried spring onion in order for the chicken to absorb the taste and way too many restaurants fail to do that. I’m pleasantly surprised by how well Rachael cooks this dish! The onion adds the sweetness to the dish as well. All in all this is really a mouth-watering dish!

Besides Chinese cuisine, Eco Wine also serves western set rice; pictured above are grilled chicken with brown or black pepper sauce. The brown sauce is aromatic with sesame seeds and the black pepper sauce has a tinge of spiciness. The chicken is tender, blanketed in homemade sauce which goes really well with the rice!

What I really love about Eco Wine is that their food is tasty and have a taste of home-cooked. When we are away from home for work, we would all crave for our favourite home cooked food and this is by far the nearest to getting such authentic flavour! They’re also generous with the portion; set lunch starts from as low as RM10.90 which comes with a main course (as shown above), soup and iced lemon tea. Plus, the main course comes with either fried egg or hard boiled egg.

The chef, Racheal is also creative with the menu. Here’s her signature curry pork with man tou. The curry has a thick texture and not too spicy, the man tou has the right amount of crispiness on the outside, soft on the inside and not too oily. When paired together, it’s a match made in heaven.

Ultimate comfort food- Braised pork belly, eggs and tofu. This is considered double boiled for the herbs and spices to be absorbed. One remarkable thing is no MSG is used to create such taste cuisine.

Signature seafood meatballs. Someone’s gotta stop me from eating this beyond my limit. But really though, once you try, there’s no stopping so don’t say I didn’t warn you! 😛
